Meet the director
Elizabeth Justice, director of orchestras
Mrs. Justice took over direction of the Cambridge Orchestras in January 2015. She currently teaches all four orchestras and co-teaches Guitar Ensemble. Originally from Buffalo, NY, she graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College in Upstate New York with dual bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Violin Performance, as well as a minor in Italian Studies. While at Ithaca College, she studied for a semester in Milan, Italy where she held a performance assistantship with the professional baroque orchestra Milano Classica. She has studied violin with Susan Waterbury, Fritz Gearhart, and Sylvia Ahramjian, and baroque violin with Laura Cavazutti.
She graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University with a master's degree in Music Education. As part of her Capstone Project, she conducted original research into the composer demographics of state orchestra contest lists and was selected to present her findings at the Society for Music Teacher Education 2019 Symposium in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mrs. Justice is a member of the American String Teachers Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Georgia Music Educators Association. Her ensembles at Cambridge consistently receive ratings of "Superior" and "Excellent" at the Georgia Music Educator's Association Large Group Performance Evaluation.
Mrs. Justice currently performs with the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra, serving as Principal Second Violin for the 2019-2020 season. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, hiking, gardening, and especially traveling.
